I have been in the Nursing Field for over 34 years, employed by Varian since 2013. My nursing career has been varied, working in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Newborn Nursery, Pediatrics, Medical/Surgical, Orthopedics/Trauma, Home Healthcare, Case Management, Utilization and Oncology. 25 of those 34 years were in Leadership/Management roles. I have served on the Board of Directors for Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and have presented at National conferences. My experience in Oncology included Manager of Medical Oncology and Service Line Administrator of Cancer Center. In my roles I was responsible for all building and operational aspects, including new construction, renovation, maintenance and upkeep, Direct oversight of All Cancer Center Staff (Providers, Clinical Staff, Ancillary staff), Billing, Coding, Denials Management, IT Services. During my time at the Cancer Center, We were able to increase productivity in the infusion suite by 125% without the addition of staff (by realizing efficiencies, reducing duplication), reduced denials by > $800,000 per year, expanded services to include a salon, oncology related DME, yoga, therapeutic drumming, Cancer Survivor activities and robust foundation fundraising. During the time at the Cancer Center, the Center accomplished ACOS outstanding accreditation 3 consecutive years, BCE certification, and QOPI certification. I holds a Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Administration, a MBA with a minor in Healthcare Management and am Oncology Nurse Certified.
In my current role within Varian, I work with a new program Varian has established. We partner with our customer sites in a whole new way, to form a partnership, helping them to stand up a service line that is standardized and consistent, using best practice and reducing variation. We assist in collecting real time analytics, allowing sites to make decisions that are in the best interest of their patients, emphasize quality, and maximize cost effectiveness.
