Why Attending SROA’s Annual Meeting Is Good for You

#SROA19 is taking place in Chicago in just under two weeks. Radiation oncology administrators from across the country will converge at the Hilton Chicago, September 15–18 for the Society’s 36th Annual Meeting. This year's theme is "The Power of Connection."

For longtime conference goers, attendance may be second nature. It’s something they do annually. For newbies, it’s an opportunity to meet other administrators and learn skills and information they can apply in their day-to-day work and share with employees.

In “Why do people attend conferences? 5 key reasons for attendees and event organizers,” the authors identify five benefits of attending: to network, to expand knowledge and find solutions to problems, to present ideas and work to others, for people to meet you and to learn beyond your field of interest. Here’s how #SROA19 offers opportunities that fit within these five reasons.

  • General Sessions, Workshops and Poster Presentations
This year’s conference features nine general sessions, 27 workshops plus poster presentations. What you learn will help you grow professionally and give you tools and information you can apply in your workplace and share with colleagues. Several presentations will be given by SROA members, so also consider topics you can present at next year’s annual meeting in Miami.

  • Admin After Hours Networking Event
New members can connect with other newbies and longtime SROA members. There will be a “Speed Mentoring” event during which a mentor will be seated at each table and new members will rotate from table to table every three minutes. New members will be invited to sign up for SROA’s Mentor Program and be matched onsite.
    Chicago Hilton: Sunday, September 15, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
