I am a Director of Cancer Care Services within a Tier 1 rural community hospital setting in Eastern North Carolina. My past work experience includes quality and patient safety, accreditation and regulation, bariatrics, heart failure, and stroke specialty programs. I have specialty nurse experience in the areas of emergency/trauma nursing and medical/oncology nursing. I am trained in the following areas: Lean/Process Improvements, Just Culture, TEAMSTEPPS. I currently serve as a BLS and ACLS instructor for our organization and region and also serve as a representative for North Carolina Hospital Association (NCHA) -The Quality Center (TQC) -Patient Safety Organization (PSO) on the Member Advisory Council.
I am experienced in leading teams, collaborating with physicians and teammates, developing strategies and achieving strategic high quality, patient-centered care goals while integrating clinical, service, and operational objectives.
I am married to a wonderful husband who also serves as a police officer for our city (Jacob). We have two sons (Emerson and Jackson), two dogs (Rocky-Beagle and Willow-Golden Retriever), and three cats (Spooke, Cornbread, Sperry). I have been a registered nurse for quite some time now and before that was a NAII and Feeding Assistant. I am a graduate of UNCW (go Seahawks) but also love to support some NSCU (go Wolfpack). I love my first sip of coffee in the morning (I consider it to be nirvana if it happens to be on our back deck on a cool, crisp morning before my children wake up as it offers me a millisecond of the day to express a moment of gratitude, reflection and meditation), reading (favorite authors are Jodi Picoult, Kristin Hannah, Atul Gawande, Ernest Hemingway and Walt Whitman), playing the piano, visiting the beach with my family and serving my community.
